Children of Abla and Antar in a Group Photo

As a continuation of her search through family albums and the colorfully decorated festive moments they contain, the artist Inass Yassin turned to her own family archive, dedicating this body of figurative and domestic interior oil paintings to her mother, Abla. Childhood and family memories of homes and decorated rooms in ʿAsira, Palestine, remained deeply etched in her mind. She recalled the vibrant corners of family houses—adorned with color, fabric, and ornamentation in joyful preparation for wedding days—scenes that she now reimagines through painting, positioning herself within them as both witness and image-maker.
